Why we built Sceniq

Sceniq exists because the honest answer to “where is this?” never fit in a DM. We built the place where a creator’s knowledge of a region becomes a product they own and a map you can trust.

An inbox as a product brief

Post a photograph of a turquoise lake and the comments fill with one question: where is this? Answer it in DMs and the same question arrives tomorrow, from someone new, forever. Leon Helg, the Swiss photographer behind Hikebeast, spent years in that loop. The knowledge people wanted from him was real, specific and earned; the channel for sharing it was a chat box.

The obvious fixes were bad. A PDF in a bio link is ugly the day it ships, and a folder of saved posts is where plans go to die. The spots deserved a map, the notes deserved a product, and the person who walked it all deserved the majority of the price.

What the travel internet optimizes for

Search rewards volume, so region pages get written by people who ranked for the region rather than walked it, and lately not by people at all. Sceniq is a bet on the opposite: fewer guides, walked ones, sold by their authors under their own names.

The rules we set

  • One author per guide, name attached, so someone is accountable for every pin.
  • Walked spots only. A person reads every application, and the shelf grows by invitation.
  • One-time prices. A guide is a product you keep, so no subscription meters your trips.
  • The creator keeps 85 percent. The platform’s 15 covers checkout, taxes, hosting and payouts.
  • A Swiss merchant of record. Saftladen GmbH sells every guide, so creators never touch VAT and buyers get a company they can hold to its policies.
  • No ads anywhere. The product is the product.

Where it stands

The first guide is live: Gems of Switzerland, 134 spots in and around the Alps, by the photographer whose inbox started all this. The shelf grows by invitation, slowly on purpose, and native apps are on the way with every purchase carrying over.

Questions go to support@sceniq.earth and applications to creators@sceniq.earth. Both inboxes get read by people, which, given how this company started, is the least we owe an inbox.
